Since this is the first time I’ve ever written for myself, I figure I should start with a post dedicated to why I’m doing it.
I’m a lover of all things old, but old jewelry takes the cake for me. The story that I often end up making up about an old piece is much of the fun. Who wore this gorgeous piece? Was it a gift, and from whom? Did the wearer treasure it like I do? These questions and more swirl through my head when I pick up a piece of jewelry that speaks to me. And it makes sense, right? For a piece of jewelry to speak its history to its wearer. I just can’t get enough and so I thought it fitting to start writing about this thing I love so dearly.
I’m a maker by trade, having studied jewelry for my first college degree. I loved the way metal felt in my hands; how I could manipulate it with heat and a hammer into the forms I found so beautiful. While I haven’t put hammer to metal in some time, I study jewelers and jewelry blogs to learn more about the field, find antique and vintage jewelry dealers and newer designers whose work evokes that same desire to find out the story behind the work.
Since I’m new to website building, I’m attempting to make things easy to find. Take a look under the Menu to see pictures of my past work and some information about me.
